What is Fresh Deliveries?
Fresh Deliveries is Leftovers’ Pay What You Want food delivery program powered by our incredible volunteers. The program was formerly known as the COVID Emergency Delivery Program under our sister organization Fresh Routes. Due to the many barriers Albertans’ face due to the pandemic, the need for a fresh food delivery service is more apparent than ever—especially a service that allows individuals to decide what they pay.
How does it work?
Anyone can order a food delivery. Volunteers pack and deliver boxes of food containing a carton of eggs, loaf of bread, vegetables, and fruit. Our volunteers deliver on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The orders will be delivered on a first come first serve basis, although we do reserve space for emergency deliveries on each delivery day. You must submit your order by 6AM the day before the delivery. For example, to receive a delivery on Tuesday, you would need to place your order before 6AM on Monday. Once we’ve reached our order maximum, we will start processing orders for the next delivery day. You will receive an email letting you know when your delivery will be arriving.
How does payment work?
Fresh Deliveries operates on a Pay What You Want model—to foster food dignity. This program is available for everyone. We offer suggested prices that are based on the cost to run this program. If you are unable to pay, you can enter in $0 and we will donate your order. We do have a limited number of orders available for donation, so if you are able to pay for your order, please do.
If you are wanting to support this program, donating more than our suggested prices means that we are able to donate more orders to our community members that are unable to pay.
