Welcome to Day Four of Leftovers’ trip into food rescue from the food’s perspective! (Missed Day Three? Check it out here!) Russell’s journey wouldn’t be possible without the support of people like you. Please donate to Leftovers today to get good food to where it’s needed most! Now let’s celebrate our tasty tuber’s incredible journey from discard to deliciousness…
We now join Russell the Russet at the end of his unexpected quest to be part of a meaningful meal…
As I looked around at the kitchen counter full of food that would soon contribute to a wonderful family celebration, I felt so happy and grateful. Day-old bread, produce that was a little wilted or a little bruised, milk that was just a bit too close to its best-before date… None of us were perfect.
But we were all still good, and the people who had worked to get us here knew it.
I looked over at some small, strangely-shaped apples in a bowl, ready to make a delicious pie. They didn’t look at all like the apples in the grocery store. What was their story? Had someone rescued them too?
Who are these new friends, and how did they become part of the celebration? Tune in to our next fresh-picked chapter to find out!
No one wants to see good food go to waste, and service agencies need as much food as they can get to support our neighbours who face food access barriers, especially during the holiday season. Rescue Food can fill that gap, but we need your help to do it. If you want to keep good food out of the landfill and moving to where it’s needed–please consider giving today to make our work possible.
Your generous donation will enable our team members and volunteers in Alberta and Manitoba to keep on rescuing good food and making sure that it gets to where it’s needed, for meals just like Russell’s.
By donating to the Leftovers Foundation, you are supporting your community, preventing the greenhouse gas emissions caused when good food rots in landfills, and contributing to a more sustainable food system. We’re here because you’re with us.
Help Leftovers make sure that good food doesn’t get wasted this holiday season. Donate now to rescue good food and get it to the people who need it most.
